My favorite wedding blog, Style Me Pretty, selected Aaron and my wedding as the Valentine ’s Day Wedding feature. We were honored to share the most magical day of our lives.
The wedding reception was reminiscent of a Great Gatsby excerpt. A private estate with sprawling lawns, flowing fountains, and swans provided an extraordinary backdrop for our wedding celebration. The decor included classic elements such as cozy white lounge vignettes, heirloom silver, and vintage mercury glass—mixed with edgier textiles such as soft nude python skins, “Chanel cuff” napkin treatments, and a custom high gloss charcoal dance floor. The florals were a romantic combination of cream garden roses, open spray roses, and tuberose mixed with more modern elements such as dusty rose-colored succulents. The color way included blushes, creams, charcoals and vintage silvers. As we enjoyed a family style dinner at long feasting tables, hanging candlelight glistened in vintage cut glass lanterns hung from the pergolas while mercury glass votives and candlesticks sparkled on the table tops. After dinner, we danced the night away under the stars to a 10 piece band. As the evening came to an end, late night comfort snacks including Croque Monsieurs and Louisiana hometown favorite Dirty Chips were tray passed for our guests to enjoy as they made their way home.
Our wedding was designed by Lisa Vorce with florals by Mindy Rice, photographed by Elizabeth Messina, cinematography by Curtis Heyne of Living Cinema, and the cake designed by Amy Berman of Vanilla Bake Shop.
My dress was designed by Vera Wang, shoes were custom made one-of-a-kind by Omelle, of course, and I found my earrings at a vintage shop on Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. Aaron wore a tuxedo by Tom Ford and shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo.
Our full wedding spread will also be featured in the April 2010 issue of C Magazine, so don’t forget to grab a copy.
