Nicole & I were invited to attend the grand re-opening of Capitol in Charlotte, North Carolina the weekend of October 31st. We began the day with a visit to Capitol, where we met the lovely members of the staff, previewed the newly arrived resort collections & were awestruck over the vegetal wall installation designed by the French botanical artist Patrick Blanc.

On Friday evening, a private dinner was hosted at the lovely home of Lisa and Ed Weisiger. Cocktail hour included champagne with gold leaf cocktails & passed hors d’oeuvres with a souther flair. When asked to be seated for dinner, we were blown away after walking into a beautiful tent decorated with thousands of red roses, chandeliers created with tree branches, and candles spread across the table. Diner was followed by a DJ in the foyer and a Halloween dance party, we had such an amazing time!

Nicole & I were asked to participate on a Footwear Design Panel at FIDM on November 6th. As graduates of the FIDM advanced footwear design program, we could not resist the opportunity. We spoke in front of approximately 100 students and shared how we created Angelle + LaFave & Omelle, our experiences in the luxury footwear industry, and where we see the industry headed. The students were inquisitive & interested in our journey, which always makes speaking to a group that much more enjoyable. Best of luck to the 2008/2009 FIDM advanced footwear design class!
